Now that Spring is on the radar I’m tapping into some of my colorful and springy recipes!
This potent purple drink is sure to leave you feeling calm and relaxed via one of my favorite herbs…lavender!
The list of health benefits from Lavender is endless, but some of my top ones are as follows: it’s ability to promote a sense of calm in your nervous system, it’s super potent antioxidants for keeping your skin beautiful and fighting cancer and it’s ability to improve cognitive function as it’s been proven to even reverse Alzheimer’s disease!
My fruit of choice is a combination of dragonfruit (Pitaya) and acai, both full of omega-3 healthy fats that aid brain function and help fight oxidative stress that we as a general population come into contact with everyday; physically and mentally. These fruits are both low on the glycemic index, and in combination with the rest of my recipe, will do no harm to your blood glucose levels! I know the “fruit fear” is becoming quite the norm lately with the whole Whole 30, Ketogenic and low carb diets being at an all time high, but I promise these foods are A-OK and I always urge you to practice things that you can sustain vs short term diets.
The creaminess is a result of coconut + avocado, and provides you with a great source of fiber, as well as, aiding the absorption of all these wonderful nutrients. The fiber helps satisfy your tummy and keep cravings at bay. The coconut keeps your metabolism kicking and serves as an antimicrobial, helpful for keeping the “bad bigs” away.
I’ve added some aloe to aid digestion and to help keep your skin looking youthful!
- 1 cup dragonfruit
- 1 unsweetened acai
- 1 tbsp lavender petals
- 1/2 large avocado
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1/4 cup aloe gel
- 1 scoop collagen (Primal Kitchen recommended)
- dash of cinnamon
- dash of Pearl Powder
- blend all ingredients
