Boys don’t be shy; this isn’t only for the ladies. Although it’s great for our “time of the month” it’s also a nutrition power pudding with many other health benefits, like being fiber and protein rich!
Ladies… if you notice; you may crave chocolate during your cycle. This is due to the low levels of magnesium we experience during our menstruation. Cacao (chocolate in its’ purest form) contains high levels of magnesium hence a great source for replenishing this mineral store in our bodies. Other than magnesium, cacao contains serotonin, a hormone that regulates our mood & appetite as well as stimulating dopamine; the hormone responsible for turning on our brains reward/pleasure centers.
It’s more than just a mineral and mood boost. This pudding is packed full of protein and healthy fats from blood-sugar balancing nutrients like black beans, avocados, hazelnuts and chia seed. It contains just the right amount of sweetness from natural sources; as always!
Other than being good for our mood and menstruation, it contains avocados and coconut which are two of the best foods for keeping clear skin, long beautiful hair and strong healthy nails. Look! You don’t have to spend fortunes on those biotin supplements after all!
This stores great in an airtight container in the fridge for about 2 weeks.
Make a batch during your batch cooking routine to have extra’s on-hand for when your craving something dessertish like!
If you really want to get creative… take a spoonful, smear it on a piece of parchment paper, stick it in the freezer. Once it’s frozen, break it into little pieces and throw it in your smoothie or mix in in some yogurt.
