Are watermelon, banana and avocado even allowed to be in the same sentence?….What a combination!
This smoothie is great to enjoy in the summer time, as it is very hydrating from the watermelon and greens. It’s a very balanced beverage with a source of healthy fats (avocado), a simple carbohydrate for immediate energy (banana & watermelon), a serving of greens, and a serving of plant sourced protein, being very easy on the digestive system. This is a great post or pre-workout smoothie, or just for when you need some melon in your life!
Watermelon and bananas, in my opinion, are two of the best fruits for anyone active. They are full of potassium and vitamins A & C. Watermelons contain an abundance of antioxidants, amino acids and an exquisite amount of lycopene; a phytonutrient that protects your cells from damage and has been linked with bone health, heart health, and prostrate cancer prevention. Lycopene along with choline (also found in this beautiful fruit) play a role in reducing inflammation in the body….and my favorite food fact for watermelon is that it contains the amino acids L-citrulline and arginine, which both improve circulation and can reduce next day muscle soreness, a true super-fruit, especially if your an athlete or living an active lifestyle.
