These Black Beauty Booster Bars hit the spot in all areas from energizing, to hormone balancing, to nutrient packed and great for baking for the kiddo’s to sneak in some of the “not so favorite” foods.
These bars are fiber-rich and contain a secret ingredient that makes they oh-so-fudgey!
I use a base of BLACK BEANS as they’re a great source of protein and complex carbohydrates which help provide energy and balance blood sugar levels. Trust me on this, I know beans and brownies aren’t something you think pair, but test it out, you’d be surprised in the complexity they give these bars. Think fudge + brownies #delicious.
These Black Beauties contain two of my favorite superfoods: maca, which is great for keeping hormone levels balanced, and chaga, which is a mushroom containing high levels of superoxide dismutase (an enzyme that your body naturally makes). Chaga functions in aiding NK (natural killer) cell activity. NK cells are cells that help fight bacterial infections, viruses and cancer cells; a super potent source of antioxidants! If you don’t have chaga on hand feel free to leave out or substitute with another adaptogen of choice. I use cacao to create a sense of chocoalate flavor without the use of dairy and refined sugars. Cacao is also high in magnesium and antioxidants to ward off cancer and keep your skin beautiful!
These bars are super quick to whip up, pop in the oven and enjoy with fresh almond mylk or a glass of tea. They store in the fridge for about 1-2 weeks and hit the spot when your in need of grab and go snacks or dessert options!
